Hot on the heels of our Guido Guidoboni Quintet auction comes another 'next level' Italian session, this time by Gruppo Jazz Marca :) Considered to be their pinnacle work and for good reason as it features some outstanding examples of modern jazz in a piano trio setting. All original compositions. The sleeve artwork screams small label, private press with cool image of these obscure players from the '70s Treviso jazz scene. A crack trio led by pianist Roberto Magris / Massimo Moriconi on contrabass (Piana Valdambrini Sextet - Chet Baker - Romano Mussolini et al) and Franco Polisseni on drums. Sophisticated, well controlled momentum with themes that mix up hard bop fire with modal waltz and deep spiritual explorations (bowed doublebass, free elements etc)... The 12min "Sensazione A ,B & C" is a mini masterpiece / experiments in modern jazz on "Congetture" and the wonderful "Autostrada" finishes our mp3 soundclip. Always been a desirable item with Japanese DJs and collectors. Disc cut loud with primitive production sound. Actually, a really hard Lp to find in the wild now and so respected, it was repressed in 2009 by the UK Arision label but CD-only. Our copy is the original 1983 1st press debut on the indie IAF label ;)
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
RECORD - shiny, strong VG++ (closer to M-) regardless of some faint hairlines from sleeve removal or a few faint blemishes from the original pressing process / disc cut loud with primitive production sound / light background noises but item looks little played so maybe due to actual pressing / a few soft ticks or pops in places
SLEEVE - original soft card sleeve is strong VG+ with some ripple indentation cum ring creasing to front top area from a previously removed tight shrinkwrap / still sharp looking with light corner and edge wear in places / ring wear with some tiny indents cum scar marks from storage and some old faint staining (all to back sleeve) / natural age discolouration / spine intact / no seam splits
LABEL - still bright looking / a hint of natural age discoloration / a few faint old dirt marks from storage / camera flash glare to one photo
After a 2 year gap, Pourquoi Moi Vintage is back :)

Mp3 created via a Vestax portable with protective slipmat and basic Audacity software but records always sound much better on a proper hi-fi system ;)
