Description

"VIVERE A: TOKIO CITTA' DEL PARADISO" Music by GIOVANNI TOMMASO

HOLY GRAIL ALERT

ORIGINAL 1972 RCA SP 8039, 1st PROMO PRESSING NOT FOR SALE, ITALIAN PROG. SOUNDTRACK MONSTER!

From the RCA SP collectors 'cult' series here is a true Italian holy LP of the genre, originally composed for the documentary "VIVERE A: TOKYO CITTA' DEL PARADOSSO", erroneously written "PARADISO" for error pressing. Barely seen for sale, this is actually one of the rarest Soundtracks came out from Italy in early '70s, pressed on 200 copies only. Originally recorded in MONO and not in STEREO as showed on cover. Comes with original RCA innersleeve.

Sensational and almost impossible to find in its original edition Original Soundtrack for the documentary composed by Perigeo's bassist Giovanni Tommaso (Living in Tokyo: City of Heaven), very active and prolific in writing Library music during the '70s. This extraordinary Score was composed to be the soundtrack for a documentary focused on Tokyo city and his inhabitants, where Giovanni Tommaso added some typical elements of melodic/harmonic Japanese music and melted them with a kind of 'Urban' music along the line of a Jazz-Rock style he would later encode in Perigeo project. Silvano Chimenti, Antonello Vannucchi and Gegè Munari are the uncredited artists who played in this session. Outstanding oriental Prog. Rock tunes are featured here and contributed to make this lost gem also sought-after by Progressive collectors circle.

This album is a full delight from beginning to the end. The lovely Harmonic flutes on "VIVERE A TOKIO" and "RITUALE N.1" come first the killing "GEISHA '71", Prog. driven Beats with Tommaso's ultra-pushed bassline, amazing and unique sound. Side A closing "SOPRAELEVATA N. 1" is my personal grail: rolling Progressive Breaks with always the same oriental style that makes this album unique. Side B opener "SQUARE DANCE IN TOKIO" along with UNDERGROUND NUMBER SEVEN" are the Prog. Rock gems in here; driven heavy drums with Chimenti's guitar and full-blooded organ.  Final "GREEN KIMONO" is incredible pulsing Japanese inspired theme. Don't miss this masterpiece!
