Guided By Voices' PROPELLER 1st edition hand-made cover, in shrinkwrap, numbered 28 in an edition of 500.  All art hand-drawn and colored.

Bought directly from Tobin Sprout (auction includes notes shown in pictures).

Vinyl shows very light imperfections in bright light.*  Cover is Like New.  Shrink wrap has a tear. 

*3/6/13: photos added for clarification on vinyl condition.  (See question below, copied at the end of this description.)  In more detail, the vinyl has scuff in endband side 'AA' (side 2), and very light cosmetic spots in vinyl which look like from the pressing, but no 'scuffing'.  Grade Excellent.

I have never played this LP as I have it on other media.

It was told either in Jim Greer's book (Hunting Accidents) or in the GBV documentary, that when making these covers they started with numbering the editions...but as the night when on, and more beer drunk, they lost interest and gave up the numbering.  There's tale of one cover that's just a Miller Lite six-pack carrier glued to one;  I'd love to see that one.

Hi! I would just like a wee bit of clarification about the vinyl. You say "light scuffing." Is this surface, putting-it-in-and-out-of-the-inner-sleeve type of scuffing? Or are we talking about the type that will make noise when played? Basically I'm just in need of a bit more info on the condition of the vinyl. Thank you!

Thanks for the question. I've included new photos for illustration, and an aural description here. The vinyl is actually supremely shiny, you may see static dust in the picture, I'd cleaned the disc with Discswasher D4 before shooting and playing.

There are no paper sleeve scuffs, or usage scuffs, at all. On further inspection, there are very light spots in the vinyl, side A, in one small area about 2 inches in width, from beginning to end band, which look like a pressing imperfection [see first photo of vinyl]. On side AA (side 2) there is a strange scuff in the end band coming from under the label [see second photo of vinyl]. (Both labels are bright white, despite the deception of the daylight reflecting in the picture.)

I listened to this record for the first time today. On side A the inset 'spots' create one small crackle per revolution with volume up on each separating silent band between songs, but no incident in the songs. The end band scuff on side AA creates no interruption to On The Tundra, the last song. The stereo used was a Music Hall mmf-2.1 turntable through an Harman Kardon 730 receiver amp.

I don't know it's history with Tobin, how or if he played it. I've now played it once. What a treat!
