Description

   This auction is for a GUIDED BY VOICES -- "WISH IN ONE HAND..."  7" VINYL EP.  This is an EXCELLENT / almost NEAR MINT PRESSING!  It was released in 1997 on the JASS Records label, with the catalogue number being J001.

     This had a limited edition pressing of 1000, with this slab being #684.  The numbers were written by hand in the bottom right corner on the back of the picture sleeve in silver magic marker (pic #5).

     This also came with a small white insert (photo #6).

     I was recently digging through my endless closet, and came across this deep-dish 7" box that contained eleven Guided By Voices 7"ers as well as some Tobin Sprout / Mitch Mitchell pieces.

     Here's a little back story.  I had a college radio show at my local alma mater from 1978 to 1991.  I was still living locally, and they allowed me to stay on after graduation.

    Now normally, I would say that this platter was played on my radio show, but that was not the case here (because that ended in '91).  Also, I had a roommate that had a damn good stereo, but we parted ways in 1988, so it didn't get played at home either.

     Since this disc was released in 1997, I think I can honestly say that it is previously unplayed!  In fact, it was still packed in the original box from the store I ordered it from (Good as Any...Better 'n Some in Franklin, Pennsylvania).  The first time it was played was when the disc was listened to for this ebay ad.

     I have a turntable now (such that it is...it "wows" like crazy, but it does the job for what I need it for), but definitely not back then.

  This 7" is in EXCELLENT condition (at least).  As it was only played once, whatever you hear or see is the way it was upon purchase back thirty years ago!  So if you hear a few light tics (there are no skips) or some low noise at the end of a song (not necessarily on this platter), just know that that is the way it was pressed long ago (on not the greatest quality vinyl either).

      Disc information was cross referenced with the Guided By Voices Data Base (GBVDB).  Their site says that this was released in three different colors of vinyl; purple marble, red marble, and white...but this copy doesn't look like any of those.  I have actually seen a copy pressed on seafoam colored vinyl.  I don't know what you would call this copy.  See-through black?  See the last four pictures.

Here's the details;

     This VINYL was a U.S. only release.  No skips were heard when this was play-tested.  Released in 1997 on the JASS Records label, with catalogue number being J001.  #684 of a 1000 limited edition pressing.  This EP contained three songs.

     The cover is made of heavy construction paper.  The top and two sides are open, so basically it's a piece of paper that was folded in half to make the sleeve.

     SIDE A:  Teenage FBI (Original Version)                     Now I'm Crying
     SIDE B:  Real

     That's it.  Again, this was never played until now, so what you hear is what you would have heard back in the '90s.  This will be shipped in a box.  I don't do envelopes.
