Guns N' Roses : Lies 1-A / 1-B 1st Press (Europe) 1988 w/ censored cover / uncensored inner

This first pressing from Europe plays to the highest standard possible.  Put simply there is no interference and the clarity, power and definition of the audio is stunning.  This is a vinyl that has not been played very much and even the 'acoustic' S2 plays with real precision.  A FINAL UPGRADE in every way.

The cover is in superb condition with hardly any wear and the original sticker is still perfectly in place.  The poly-lined inner sleeve just has some light creasing.

This is the first pressing with the censored cover but still has the uncensored picture of the nude model on the inner sleeve.  This version was Manufactured in Germany and has the UK catalogue number on the back cover, spine and labels.

Visual description

This vinyl is in great condition and still has a very strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can see a few faint hairlines and there is nothing that stands out.  The labels are unmarked and have hardly any spindle wear.

Play grading

The four live tracks on S1 play with real power and depth and there is no interference at all.  Starting with 'Reckless Life' the playback is just stunning.  Showing the full range of Rose's vocal it could not play any better.  Mint all the way.  The other three tracks 'Nice Boys', 'Move To The City' and 'Mama Kin' all play to the same high end standard with no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  Maybe a hint of distortion on the final track but you kind of expect it precisely because it is the final track.  It is very minor anyway.  I will grade it as Mint- but the preceding three are Mint

The intro on 'Patience' is perfect and the opening vocal then plays so clearly with only a couple of barely audible statics.  This clarity is kept up and I cannot emphasise enough how well this acoustic version plays.  The clarity and warmth of the audio is exceptional and I honestly believe Mint is well deserved.

The intro on 'Used To Love Her' is 'as new' and Rose's first vocal is just as clean.  It continues in the same precise way and again I cannot find one single fault.  Crystal clear audio from start to finish with no intrusion.  Mint

'You're Crazy' plays with sublime clarity throughout without any background, not even a solitary dust tick.  A very different version of course compared to the 'Appetite...' one and Mint is an easy grade to give.

The countdown intro on 'One In A Million' has no background - a good measure of the clarity on offer here.  The whistle / guitar intro then plays perfectly as does the opening vocal.  From then on it plays with STUNNING quality, the highlight on the album for me.  Controversial lyrics maybe but the sonic quality through every vocal and instrumental section is superb.  The clarity of sound is sensational and the quiet end section is no exception.  The definitive Mint version you could say.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The glossy censored cover (with sticker) is in fantastic condition with barely any wear.  The edges and spine are perfect and the corners are very clean.  The opening edge has no handling wear and the front cover is close to perfect with just one tiny corner crease bottom left and some very faint creases around the edges that you only see when you hold the cover at a certain angle.  The back cover is just as impressive with only a couple of very small 'rubs' near the top edge and a mega small corner crease by the lower right corner.  A superb example.

The poly-lined inner sleeve is in great shape with no side splits or marking, just some light creasing here and there.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
