Guru Guru's debut album has maintained a healthy reputation over the moons for its early work. Opening number "Stone In" has a quite appropriate title for a starting track -- it is wonderfully tripped out, to be sure, and if Manuel Gottsching was more of a guitar god, Genrich kicks up a lot of frazzled noise. The principle of the Trepte/Neumeier rhythm section seems to have been "find loud weird grooves and then play them, sometimes chaotically." Again, they aren't Can's wickedly effective combination of Holger Czukay and Jaki Leibezeit, but they're not just falling over themselves either. The title track is the most memorable song, almost entirely eschewing conventional rhythm for an inward collapse of feedback and noise that sounds either like the Stooges' "LA Blues" even more strung out or early Main with a conventional band lineup. "Girl Call" and "Next Time See You at the Dalai" (a classic example of a just-groansome enough Krautrock pun that only Germans seemed to love) makes for a good combination, the increasing freakiness of the one leading into the start-stop chug and explosion of the latter. Genrich really gets to show off a bit on both, demonstrating that there is such a thing as technical ability that doesn't equal pointless fret abuse. 

THIS LP IS ONE OF THE HARDEST TO FIND ON THE OHR LABEL AND HAD VERY LITTLE ATTENTION OR SALES 48 YEARS AGO AND WAS DELETED WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF ISSUE! THE ALBUM WAS ONLY ISSUED IN THE STEREO FORMAT WITH AN OUTSIDE LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE..

ORIGINAL GURU GURU'S DEBUT ALBUM AND DELIVERING BEAUTIFULLY CLEAN AUDIO THROUGHOUT - WHICH IS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO FIND AS THE LP HAS MANY VERY QUIET MOMENTS WHICH ARE COMMONLY SPOILT BY EXCESSIVE SURFACE NOISE -   - FANTASTIC UPGRADE COPY  THIS BEAUTY HAD ONE VERY CAREFUL OWNER WHO RESPECTED HIS VINYL. THIS IS INDEED NM.

 Gatefold Sleeve:  EX++.  The classic laminated gatefold sleeve is in STUNNING condition with  NO Tears , NO seam splits, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind!!!  The spine is totally unworn .  All writing is fully legible!! All edges are unworn and the opening is supercrisp. One tiny corner crease. The edges are unbelievable with barely any detectable wear. the inside gatefold is unmarked and NM. An absolute upgrade for any Progressive/Kraut collection, it will be nearly impossible to ever find this again!!

Vinyl: EX+ to NM.  Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen. There are NO  hairlines or marks and just light paper retraction traces only visible under a strong light source. It has always been stored away in its protective polylined sleeve in a purpose built record storage unit and kept at the ideal temperature for many decades.  This album is part of an important early seventies prog collection which I acquired from a serious collector who appreciated well crafted music. More LP's will be auctioned in weeks to come.
 Outstanding audio delivery in all respects with a crystal clear, deep, rich, warm and detailed sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always an immense pleasure to return to this one) there are no sticks or jumps, no clicks or pops and barely any surface noise (really hardly anything worth a mention and to be incredibly picky, maybe just a touch on the run-ins). This is a beautifully clean pressing (and I must emphasise again how difficult it is to find a copy which plays this well). The whole LP sounds absolutely stunning and plays to an extremely high standard with superb clarity, no groove-wear and no distortion and is very strictly graded a strong EX+ to NM, a great copy worthy of archive storing!! NO spindle traces at all. Of course, NO skips, NO jumps, NO ticks. This will be an upgrade for most experienced collectors and is warmly recommended to my regular buyers.
