This record is in fantastic condition, and I'm sure who ever ends up with it will be as happy as I have been owning it! This record is in exceptional condition, the only copy that could be better would be a sealed copy.

Here are the details...
We are offering an ORIGINAL U.S. PROMO pressing of the self-titled album by Gandalf, released in 1968 on Capitol Records Stereo ST121.

The initial release of this album was plagued by a massive screw-up on the part of Capitol Records (sorry Capitol !)… the ENTIRE first batch of albums that were shipped to retail stores contained the WRONG record inside!

Once Capitol realized the mistake, they recalled the album to correct the problem. But…

…it was already too late: the market momentum was lost, the demand for the album passed, there was NO radio airplay, no band tour to support the release, and many stores chose not reorder it. Amid the flub, the band evaporated, and moved on.

Capitol Records, anticipating that the demand for the LP was going to be minimal, replaced the mis-shipped copies in truly minuscule quantities.

It’s estimated that fewer than 500 copies were re-shipped altogether… of which fewer than 300 still exist today. And of those, fewer than 200 exist in playable condition. And only a handful exist in the TOP condition of this copy!

I would be willing to bet that fewer than 25 copies in the world have survived in the original shrink wrap, in near mint condition, as is this copy is...47 years later!

And how many promos were made? This is a PROMO!

CONDITION COVER:

• Near Perfect

• Still has original factory shrink on the cover.

• Very minor wear on the corners.

• The Capitol factory "FREE" perforations in the upper right hand corner

• 2 pieces of Scotch tape can be found on the shrink wrap (1 at the top , the other at the bottom) to prevent the shrink from tearing off….no affect to the cover.

• Just about as good as it can EVER get!

• No Splits, No Writing, No Tears, No Stickers, No Stains. Only general aging.

CONDITION OF INNER SLEEVE:

• Near perfect, original with "FREE" perforations to the upper right corner

• Some age yellowing.

• No splits, no writing etc.

CONDITION RECORD: Near perfect..flawless! Looks un-played!

CONDITION OF THE LABEL: NO spindle marks, (near) PERFECT!
