This is an incredibly clean copy, see pictures for close ups of the only imperfections on the jacket (the front has dings on both opening corners and the back has some minor creasing to the bottom opening corner)
The final album (I’m not counting the posthumous joint) from the legendary duo of Guru and DJ Premier. The beats are incredible, Premier’s classic 90s run was over at this point but he proved he had a few new tricks up his sleeve on this one. “Put Up or Shut Up” (featuring Krumbsnatcha) is classic Premier, Guru compliments the bat nicely and the Krumbsnatcha feature rivals his guest verse on Moment of Truth’s “Make ‘Em Pay”. “Werdz From The Ghetto Child” is the successor to Hard to Earn’s “Words From The Nutcracker” and while it’s not on the same level as that track (that beat was so ill Premier knew he could only let it play for a little over a minute) it’s a respectable sequel. I’m not being hyperbolic when I say “Right Where You Stand” (featuring Jadakiss) is the best Jada feature of all time and one of the greatest hip hop tracks of the early 2000s, the beat is iconic and Jada’s verse is eternally quotable.
I could go on and on talking about tracks from this album, if you’re looking at this listing you’re probably already familiar with it, you remember the one two punch of the posse cuts “Who Got Gunz” (featuring Fat Joe and M.O.P.) and “Capture (Militia Pt. 3)” (featuring Big Shug and Freddie Foxxx) followed by the back to back solo bangers “Playtawin” and “Riot Akt”, Premier’s sampling chops on full display with both of those.
It would be a great feeling to crack this open, clean the discs, resleeve them, and kick back and listen to this triple LP, but it’s one of the many, many things I’m reluctantly letting go of in order to finance a fresh start. I hope this gem winds up in good hands, whether it’s someone who will open it up or someone who will keep it sealed
