Description
Omens songwriter and singer Donald Revercomb II passed away of cancer on January 7, 1994, but his music lives on. The Omens are famous for one of the hottest garage 45s of all time, “Searching,” which was recorded on the Chicago based Cody label in July 1966, backed with the flip side “Girl Get Away”.
You’ll never forget the insistent fuzz riff and opening lines “Searching… searching for love. I’ve been searching… searching for love” blasting from this old 45. After just 40 seconds the band has pounded through the opening and the first verse. Frantic screams and it’s right to a tight bubbling organ solo. Then the second verse, even wilder screams and a searing un-overdubbed guitar solo. If you were looking for an archetypical garage song, you would have a hard time coming up with a better one than “Searching”.
This copy of the 45 rpm record has the recording dates 7-19-66 A and B scratched into the inner circle of the platter (see photos). It is in good condition, with some water spots on the "Searching" side. There are no apparent scratches on the grooves, but since I don't have a record player, actual audio quality is unknown.
The band was based in Hammond, Indiana. Performers on the record are:

Al Patka – organ – age 18
