Up for sale is an original 1967 Fenton Records 45 by The Legends featuring I’m Just a Guy backed with I’ll Come Again. Fenton Records is a well-known Michigan independent label associated with the mid-60s regional rock and garage scene. Records from this label are closely followed by collectors of Northern Soul, Detroit garage rock, and Midwest regional pressings.
This pressing bears several interesting collector characteristics. Portions of the label appear to have been carefully taped to preserve the printed areas most prone to wear, and a light etched marking consistent with the release year can be seen in the runout area. These preservation quirks are consistent with archival handling from working DJs who cataloged their libraries.
According to the history provided with the collection, this record comes from the private collection of a legendary Detroit crate-digger and one-time DJ. The markings and protective tape reflect the way he preserved many of his records during decades of collecting and playing out.

• Record shows moderate surface wear and light scuffing consistent with play.
• Slight warp visible. Record sounds good, except for the first 10-15 seconds which are affected by a slight warp on the outer edge. Listen to the sample and I think you’ll get a taste of what it sounds like. You will need a stylus that gives room between the record in the arm. If it’s super tight, it might not play correctly
• One side has some dirt in the grooves causing light background noise during the latter portion of I’ll Come Again.
• Labels show taped areas likely applied long ago to prevent wear.
Sleeve: Generic white 45 sleeve.
Playback: Overall solid sound for a vintage regional pressing with typical light background noise in spots.
A nice original Midwest pressing that fits squarely into Northern Soul and regional garage collections. Fenton releases remain desirable due to their small pressing runs and connection to the Michigan independent rock scene of the 1960s.
