Basically I will be dropping some of the details below in what has been my routinely elaborate individual item descriptions, IF the items are not deemed by me to be bigger ticket potential ie. $100.00 + LPs. With up to 12 pictures much of this information should be self evident anyway by carefully viewing all of them. For top rarities I offer that should sell for multiple hundreds or even $1,000.00 + (even in the currently weak worldwide economy), I will continue to provide the same more elaborate descriptions that I always have, both supplemented and verified with up to 12 photos each that are always of the exact items I'm offering for sale as anyone who has purchased from me before has experienced. If you have any specific questions about any item that's not self evident, then feel free to contact me and I will respond ASAP. Please do not wait until the last day when the auction is ending though, unless by chance you have just noticed the listing. I rarely monitor the bidding when my auctions are ending as I'm usually working at getting more new listings up for your benefit. Needless to say my feedback speaks for itself! For those of you who have left it (which is the vast majority of you), I appreciate your continued support of myself as primarily a seller, as well as the overall Ebay community at large to continue making it a better and more reliable experience for everyone. BRIEF UPDATE: My recent loss may WELL end up being your gain because (some Sundays ago) on October 21st I got up to shave and shower and when I stepped into the shower and turned on the water it declined to a trickle almost immediately. Rain had been almost non-existent for 3 months and after exactly 8 years since moving here from WPB in November of 2004 I was faced with the dismal fact after a brief walk into the ravine in the forest behind my house that my underground spring had officially dried up which was the source of my water system! Consequently I was without water for over 2 weeks until Tuesday (Nov.6th) and my time required for issues relating to this complication and other things once again negated my ability to run auctions. Therefore I had to have a WELL drilled which is a major expense I had not counted on and now need to raise extra $$ to pay for. Hopefully this week will allow me to continue getting back on track and furthermore you'll see me offering at least a few LPs that I had not planned on selling!

Welcome Back Rare Vinyl Fans & Fiends Alike. So sorry for the rather long un-intended hiatus from selling since last spring of 2011 but other demands on my time were required.

     HERE you will often FIND offered BETTER CONDITION RECORDS than many other

(visually graded only) sources offer, WHICH ARE FREQUENTLY TOP COPIES & VIRTUALLY new or LIKE-NEW

and unplayed or played very few times, AND/OR THE BEST COPIES POSSIBLE of many choice records.

Purchased: USED. Highly respectable 1st UK edition of these superb 1969 recordings by this top acid folk singer/songwriter guitarist accompanied by Mighty Baby's entire band here except for 2nd guitarist Alan King along with contributions by stablemates from Blossom Toes with Brian Belshaw lending his bass prowess to 2 tracks & Kevin Westlake co-writing the haunting Green! Featured predominantly are Ace bassist Mike Evans (R.I.P. Dear Friend!) and drummer extraordinaire Roger Powell both of The Action & Mighty Baby, as well as their prolific keyboard & winds maestro Ian Whiteman and lead guitar genius Martin Stone!! Mike (Meic??)Stephens is also credited on lead guitar on 6 tracks but I suspect that is somewhat incorrect with Martin Stone's presence seemingly apparent on a few others & most definitely looming large on The Vicar & The Pope which is uncredited on the sleeve but obviously him! Certainly Gary's very best effort & superb songs along with the magnificent followup Strange Fruit which were both as much Mighty Baby outings with their signature sound gracing both records proving that they had NO equals when it came to enriching more UK acid folk records than anyone else when you count up all of the jewels their musical prowess & presence enhanced in unparalleled ways!!! Even perhaps more amazing lending further credence to the prolific natural musical talents of Mighty Baby's members is the fact that Mike Evans told me (in 2006 when I traveled to England twice to witness Mighty Baby's glorious reunion concerts) that Gary's records were the only ones on which they rehearsed the songs with all the others being totally improvised off the cuff with no formal prior actual rehearsals!! He also shared with me among other things that Gary's brother Ricky had still not gotten over his sad demise some years earlier. Well I can tell you that I shed quite a few tears upon hearing of Mike's death some 4 years later in 2010 which also sadly saw the departure of Action lead vocalist Reggie King who produced this wonderful LP! He's also dearly missed & many years ago when speaking with and sharing thoughts perched on an adjacent bar stool in Toronto quaffing a beer with Brian Godding on a tour he played with fellow Mirage members supporting Kevin Coyne, he said he firmly believed that Reggie King was one of the best 5 vocalists that England ever produced!! Well judging from the rich musical legacy that he left us that's still growing with more recent releases from his copious sessions for the Reg King LP I'd certainly agree! Yet more always uncompromising experimental improvisational recordings by this/these fine folk-rock zone troopers. Once again this player/these players demonstrate a unique affinity and collective mindset for producing such telepathic improvisation. It doesn't always work well but when it does like here it's absolutely glorious! Worth the price of admission for those who are experimentally inclined and not uptight or inclined to become prejudicially divided (as all of us need to be unified worldwide to stave off the stifling New World Order and their tyrannical diabolical aspirations to enslave us all). Beware and please don't be too square!

Cover Condition: VG+(+) thin & textured making it very prone to edge-wear which this copy has substantially on both top & bottom (last 2 photos) as well as the spine which fortunately still has most of the text readable. Minimal creasing of the 4 corners which are all slightly frayed with rub-off, but only sporting the subtlest hints of ring-wear front and back on the top & bottom. Needless to say this is quite common for many UK records of this vintage being almost 45 years old now. Two photos of the front showing where I pulled back the top right corner sticker as much as I could revealing somewhat more of the sleeve that remains unscathed. I'd never attempted removing it until yesterday and I found that it otherwise covers up in the middle some prior sticker tear damage, the revealed edges of which showed that someone had colored it in with brown underneath. Consequently I didn't try to fully remove it. Top right rear corner also has 4 characters (C553) penned in from a former owner which were so subtle & dark that I only just noticed them also. Still, all in all a decent copy which could of course stand an upgrade HOWEVER you're buying it for the pristine vinyl which is far more important as the source for this glorious music that no CD will ever fully reveal much less compare to!!

Inner Sleeve: Original replaced with a white paper poly-bag that I've enclosed along with an additional sheer plastic liner that will be included further augmenting & better protecting the very nice vintage vinyl within .

Record Condition:  Looks very nice VG++ OR EX-- with some significant hairlines/sleeve-wear including some light scratches + 2 somewhat nasty looking scuffs that actually barely sound at all. Track A1 has a light scratch that starts maybe 1/3 of an inch in extending to the end of it and just into the beginning of A2, but other than a few seconds of very light background crackle right at the very beginning of the side there's nothing else to be heard except the fabulous music. Almost but not quite coinciding with its end, about 1/4 inch from the opening of A2 is 1 of the nasty scuffs that extends across the rest of A2 and into the beginning of A3 where it looks the worst, but other than 1 moderately loud pop close to the beginning of  track A2 there's nothing else audible at all. The very beginning of A3 despite the end of the scuff sounds much like the beginning of the side with only a few brief moments of very subtle background crackle that are audible momentarily & then once again overpowered with nothing but the enchanting music! Any background crackle between songs (which mostly there isn't) is extremely subtle and light & lasting only a few seconds at most before the dynamically played & recorded music totally overpowers any other existing visual imperfections and there's precious few moments where the music is quiet enough anywhere else that you can discern much of anything, like on Curtain Of Sleep near it's beginning. The 2nd nasty scuff extends across track B1 and except for an initial light 4-5 clicks there's nothing else to report. SO OVERALL it plays at the very least by the strictest grading a VERY STRONG EX(+) and really quite CLOSE TO NM WITH SUPERB FIDELITY & little background noise of any kind throughout due to the strong deep grooved heavy Marmalade vinyl both before & after the cleaning I just gave it on a VPI HW-17. BTW the photos were shot before cleaning it. I can positively assure 99% of even the fussiest collectors that NO upgrade will likely be desired or required and probably there's very few copies that play this good world-wide left on the planet that aren't already firmly lodged in permanent collections!! This was/is my sole duplicate & being the second best copy overall, (mainly due to the cover considering how well it plays rather than appears) it consequently got played considerably more but I reckon probably no more than 15 times maximum over close to the 4 decades I've owned it! Unlike many other records with more perishable weaker vinyl I suspect you could easily play it another 15-25 times with no further appreciable audible deterioration! This is really excellent music here featured in an intimate musical setting providing some cosmic sounds that can send one into the stratosphere if they're ready, willing and able! I know because I've been there with it numerous times and it delivers in spades every time I hear it!! So now it's your move!

Label Condition: A=EX(+) with possibly a half dozen very faint subtle spindle marks, whereas B=M- with probably a few less that are all almost imperceptible to the naked eye! Fortunately I'm blessed to still have very good vision close up being nearsighted and I can still read very fine print with no glasses !

SHIPPING & HANDLING RATES:   Please note that as of today 26th February 2012, I've lowered the price of additional single LPs for media mail for U.S. customers to $1.50 instead of $2.00 for up to 6 albums total, per my attempts to keep it closer to actual costs of mailing. Remember that gate-folds usually weigh more so I've tried to establish a medium based on that.

RATES UPDATE-as of June 2013: Since the January 27th U.S. postal rates increases some foreign buyers have automatically been sending me $24.15 in checkout (despite my posted $19.00 rate) which I thank you all for as that's frequently been my exact cost to ship one LP double boxed. However when I've used 2 boxes recently (a regular size/weight box I use for all domestic shipping packed like it's ready to ship by itself inserted with bubble wrap taped surrounding it within a larger much heavier cardboard outer box) it's actually been costing me $26.00 more often than $24.15(regardless of gate-fold or not), thus my additions to the rates. Please remember again that I'm paying for all of my packing materials which are factored in accordingly as already noted below. It's your call!

1.Continental U.S.A.-1 LP is $10.40 for Priority + $1.25 each additional LP OR $4.00 for Media mail + additional single LPs are $1.50 each up to 6 total. More than 6 may require an adjustment.

2.Alaska, Hawaii & Canada are $13.00 for 1st LP  Airmail and $5.00 for each additional single album up to 5 total.

3.Mexico & South America are $15.00 for 1st LP Airmail and $4.00 for each additional up to 5 total.

MY PRESERVATION POLICY on many records that I revered was simple and I share it with you now so that you understand why you take virtually no risk buying from me providing the album was bought new and not used originally. When I'd buy a "new" album and it was something I liked a lot and still available (most of my new albums were purchased in the early-mid 1970's!) I'd initially play it between 15-25 times to become familiar with it and then sell it to a friend as a still EX+ well preserved nice copy. (Adding outer & inner plastic sleeves was standard procedure additionally limiting cover wear and/or hairline paper sleeve marks.) Then I'd buy another new copy and in some cases if a particular favorite then yet another, meaning that I only played the 2nd copy (now my 1st) 5-10 times and the 3rd (now my 2nd if I kept 2) once or twice, always initially taping or now in more recent years currently burning to disc 1 copy within the first couple of  plays thus significantly limiting play to this day on most of my lps. I did/do this with many single copy rarities as well so most play was/is on tapes or cd-rs. I bought a lot of CDs of favorite things also which further helped preserve my vinyl and limit play of much of it. Sometimes I also acquired rare British and European vinyl which I never saw imported in stores and sold new in the United States or Canada from contacts I established through mail correspondence during the 1970's. I developed contacts in England, France, Germany, Holland & Norway. Be aware that the MAJORITY of albums or occasionally 45's that I list ARE FREQUENTLY my ONLY COPIES so bid accordingly as you'll not likely see most of them listed by me again.
