Description
This has got to do the Holy Grail for any Numan Collector, it was signed by all the band members on the Touring Principle 79 leg of the tour.
Gary Numan, Cedric Sharpley, Paul Gardiner, Chris Payne, Rrussell Bell and Billy Currie, in all my days I have never seen anything with these all these signatures on.
This is the info I have on it sent to me .
All money make is for the Ced Sharpley Drumming Bursary.
...........
I have had the single since ca. '84, given to me via a girlfriend who had explained to a co-worker (Peter - head griddle chef) that she was friends with a Numanoid...aka..me.. They both worked at the "Little Chef" restaurant, once upon a time in Bourne End, between Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted. The other side of the sleeve includes a message regarding Peter's gift to "Speedie"..my friend Lorraine. I don't know the exact provenance of the signatures, they appear 100% genuine. On the B'side record label, it would appear Gary and Ced first attempted to sign the record disk label..and probably thought better about their chances.. My best reasoning places this single at the '79 Touring Principle gig in Aylesbury (closest proximity) or Hammersmith.
..............
The bursary was founded by Ced's partner Gill Mabey and her brother David Mabey in 2012. It pays for one year's special one-to-one drum tuition for a chosen pupil at Ashlyns School in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire which Ced attended. A new recipient is chosen each year. It is entirely funded by donations and fund-raising events.
Please help to keep the name of Cedric alive with another young drummer.
When the Ced Sharpley Drumming Bursary was founded in 2012, we sponsored two pupils (one boy and one girl) – although we had to cut it down to just one per academic year after that. But since 2022 is the Bursary’s 10th birthday (and also the 10th anniversary of Ced Sharpley’s sad death), we wanted to do something extra special. With your help, we'd like to raise sufficient funds to sponsor TWO pupils once again – in tribute to Cedric and his memory.
