Very Rare 1956 Capitol Records Gray Promotional Label

Here’s an early one from the dawning of Rock ‘N Roll and also the dawning of 12” LP records. It still took a few more years (and mostly the arrival of The Beatles) before rock music on long play albums became commonplace and this one’s a rarity having an authentic Capitol Records printed Promotional Label instead of the more common promo sticker or stamp.

I’ll due my best in describing the condition of this old gem.

Cover: Pretty good shape. As in the provided photos you can see there is some shelf wear. Nothing to bad other than a 6” seam separation upper right/front at the opening with no missing material and a dinged lower left corner. The spine is intact with all printing legible. Check and expand the photos for a good look.

Record: Solid VG+. Just gave it a few listens and other than some background noise in the quietest passages it sounds great. Definitely has marks on the surface but light marks that can’t be felt when running your fingers over the surface. Still plenty of good luster.

Considering the rarity of an Authentic Promo from this period of Rock ‘N Roll and the very good overall condition this is what I’d call a slightly flawed gem but a gem never the less. Not a mint copy just a very good copy of a pretty rare pressing.
