Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps - Hot Rod Gang
(Capitol EAP 1-985 UK 7" EP 1958)
This is a very early 1960's UK 7" EP pressing. It has a front laminated flipback sleeve. The rear of the sleeve is not laminated. The record has dark green & silver "Capitol" labels which have a 4 pronged centre. The record has -1/ -1 matrix stampers. A classic late 1950's Rock 'n' Roll/ Rockabilly UK EP.
The previous owner removed the record from this sleeve not too long after purchase. The sleeve was stored elsewhere and has been preserved in wonderful condition. However, the record has been quite heavily played. Therefore, this would certainly suit someone with an excellent pressing of the 7" EP, but who needs a replacement sleeve. Please see below for a thorough description.
Sleeve: As stated, the sleeve for this EP was stored carefully away for a very long period. Therefore, the sleeve is remarkably well preserved. You would be hard pushed to find a better example. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear at the centre area of the rear sleeve. There is light or very minor rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is a very minor crease in one corner tip area. A strong Excellent condition
Vinyl: Unfortunately, the record has been quite heavily played. There are mild, very mild or more moderate sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are a few areas of more moderate sleeve rubs too. There are 5 or 6 light surface hairline marks. these measure from 1 cm to 2 cm in length. Good condition. The labels are in Very Good++ condition & show mild spindle wear only.
I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the background to a varying degree. It never overpowers the music. There are no noticeable clicks or pops. Overall, a very serviceable audio copy.
I shall place the vinyl into a separate plain paper or polythene sleeve. This will protect the original inner sleeve from any damage during transit.
