Description
Vinyl was play tested through Focal Elegia's and it played as overall EX-. Numerically I end the EX range at 83 and VG+ starts at 82. VG starts at 72, that's going to matter later. Overall the play was in the 84 range with A3 and B3 and B4 playing a bit better and A4 playing more like an 80 relative to the degree of surface noise. Beyond the surface noise tracks B3, B4, two on B1 along with a light tick and one more on B3. Visually there are a moderate number of hairlines and I really don't know how relative to the anti static sleeves but it is what it is and visually it's more VG+ than EX- (it's really really close) and the grade is VG+. I picked it apart but this is one of my favorite albums and the play is all there and sounds wicked good.
The sleeve is scored VG and I'm numerically scoring it a 70. Straight on at arms length it looks better but if you start looking there is a lot going on. First, there is no weird basement/garage smell but there is discoloration along the bottom of the sleeve along with some near the top and also along the rear opening all of which I attempted to capture in the pictures. Beyond that along the right seam there is a sun fade (I'm 99% sure anyway) running all the way down at 5mm wide. There is fade discoloration to the top seams and lesser to the spine as well. There is staining within the bottom front left corner. There is also abrasion wear to the bottom rear gatefold. We all wish it was just a little better but it's still really very good.
