Genuine MINT 1978 UK FIRST PRESSING pink Charisma ‘Small Madhatter' label 11-track vinyl LP of the ninth studio album, named to reflect the band at that stage filtering down to only three members (their first after Steve Hackett's departure). The gatefold picture sleeve, original insert with t-shirt offer and Knebworth booking form, and original inner sleeve are all in excellent condition with very little shelf-wear and the vinyl is mint – a beautiful play-copy of one of the band’s finest works!
The record is in Mint condition and sounds as wonderful as ever, while the cover, insert and inner sleeve fully deserve an Excellent grading. See pics. A superb copy of this very strong Genesis album!

All items are free from any major defects like scratches, tears, creases, dog-ears, writing, stains or the like. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1978, not reprints or replacements. The LP is the original 1978 UK stereo LP, which was only played once or twice on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.

...And Then There Were Three... is the ninth studio album by the British band Genesis and was released in 1978. It is the band's first album as a trio.
The title ...And Then There Were Three... is a reference to the recent departure of Steve Hackett, reducing Genesis to a trio (which would result in their longest unchanged line-up, which lasted until 1996). The song "Scenes From a Night's Dream" is based on the adventures of comic strip character Little Nemo, and is the first Genesis song with lyrics written entirely by Phil Collins. "Say It's Alright Joe" is a torch song about a drunk who goes into a drunken stupor.
The album reached No.3 in the UK Albums Chart, and remained in the charts for 32 weeks having been bolstered by the UK Top 10 success of "Follow You Follow Me", which also became Genesis' first hit US single.
...And Then There Were Three... reached No.14 on the US chart, becoming their first Gold (eventually Platinum) album there.

…And Then There Were Three…, more than either of its immediate predecessors, feels like the beginning of the second phase of Genesis -- in large part because the line-up had indeed dwindled down to Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, and Phil Collins, a situation alluded to in the title. But it wasn't just a whittling of the line-up; the group's aesthetic was also shifting, moving away from the fantastical, literary landscapes that marked both the early Genesis LPs and the two transitional post-Gabriel outings, as the band members turned their lyrical references to contemporary concerns and slowly worked pop into the mix, as heard on the closing "Follow You Follow Me," the band's first genuine pop hit. Its calm, insistent melody, layered with harmonies, is a perfect soft rock hook, although there's a glassy, almost eerie quality to the production that is also heard throughout the rest of the record. These chilly surfaces are an indication that Genesis don't quite want to abandon prog at this point, but the increasing emphasis on melody and tight song structures points the way toward the group's '80s work.

A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
