I haven’t had a record player for 20+ years so have reluctantly decided to start selling off my record collection. Included in it are a number of real gems – including my beloved Genesis / Peter Gabriel collection. I listed ‘From Genesis To Revelation’ last week – keep watching for a number of exceptionally rare Genesis records. You are now bidding for a near mint original copy of ‘Foxtrot’ on the Charisma label. This 1st pressing was released in 1972 and the record is still with its original inner printed sleeve. Charisma CAS 1058 with the large Mad Hatter labels with ‘B&C Records Ltd’ credits. Has the important ‘A-1U’ / ‘B-1U’ matrix numbers and also with ‘Porky’ and ‘Pecko’ in the black run-off vinyl. Textured gatefold sleeve with ‘B&C Records Ltd’ and ‘EJ Day Group Ltd’ credits and ‘Foxtrot’ title in sort-after red lettering. The sleeve is in near mint condition and has been kept in an album sleeve in my record cabinet ever since new. The advertising inner sleeve is also in near mint condition. Vinyl is in near mint condition and has only ever been on a turntable a few times. I cannot see any scratches whatsoever. The labels are also in near mint condition and there are no spindle marks. This album has all the appearance of being brand new and this is probably the best chance you have to own an original copy of the really rare Genesis album in such stunning condition. Inside the sleeve, I discovered a cutting from Melody Maker – ‘The Genesis File’. I’m including this in the sale as it gives some interesting information which I’m sure will be of great interest to any serious Genesis collector. Who would have thought that Peter Gabriel would have listed Nina Simone’s ‘I Put a Spell on You’ as his favourite single. Mind you, Steve Hackett has ‘Blue is the Colour’ by Chelsea FC as his!
