Description

Really nice copy of the absolute FIRST PRESSING of this seminal prog classic from 1969.  Matrix numbers are ZAL-8839-P-1W and ZAL-8840-P-2W.  The Decca logo is unboxed with the wide silver band stating "Full Frequency Stereophonic Sound"  From 1970 onwards Decca pressings switched to a boxed logo design with a much narrower silver band so only a very limited number of copies of this record have the First label design.  (According to some well reseearched reports there were only 649 copies sold with this design making this a true rarity) This copy also has a nice poly-lined Deccat inner sleeve.  The outer sleeve is the original highly laminated sleeve printed and made by Robert Stace.

Side 1 :

(a)   Where the Sour Turns to Sweet
(b)   In the Beginning
(c)   Fireside Song
(d)   The Serpent
(e)   Am I Very Wrong ?
(f)   In the Wilderness

Side 2 :

(a)   The Conqueror
(b)   In Hiding
(c)   One Day
(d)   Window
(e)   In Limbo
(f)   Silent Sun
(g)   A Place to Call my Own

The condition is really good for a record of this vintage.  The sleeve is extremely crisp and clean with absolutely no loss of laminate and no tears or scuffs.  There are some creases in the laminate which show up worse than usual due to the extremely high gloss nature of the black sleeve.  Most copies of this record will have some such creasing.  The spine is unchipped and uncreased but a little "flattened".  The printing on the spine is still clear and legible.  There is absolutely no ring wear visible on the front although the back (unlaminated) sleeve does show some ring wear and a few creases.  Shelf wear  is minimal(except for very tiny - almost unnoticeable - scuffing at the very corner extremities.)  The inner sleeve is in excellent fresh condition with no creases, tears or splits.

The record comes complete with its original two sided lyric sheet which is in pristine condition with no creases, tears, finger marks or discolouration.

The playing surfaces retain a nice deep, lustrous shine with only very minor surface abrasions visible on a very close inspection and one largeish scuff on the second half of side two WHICH DOES NOT SOUND ON PLAYBACK.  The disc has been play-graded on a very revealing system (Linn Sondek/Ekos/Arkiv through highly detailed and unforgiving Martin Logan hybrid electrostatic speakers) and reproduces beautifully throughout with absolutely no tick, pops or clicks and no jumps.  There is a small amount of surface noise which does not detract from the listening experience at all.  The sound quality is superb with really deep, clear bass, great instrumental separation and very natural sound
.

All records will be sent in professional quality mailers with two stiffeners for added protection.  Records (in their inner sleeves) will be removed from the outer sleeve to prevent damage to the seams and sleeves will be packaged in protective clear plastic sleeves.

The quoted postage rates are for 1-3 records.  For 4-6 records double postage will apply etc, etc.
