Description

Next up is a rare copy of Genesis' 1970 album 'Trespass' on the pink Charisma label. This is a very early pressing, with the textured cover, and comes complete with its original lyric insert. Playing it through to make sure it was suitable for auction, I was struck how much like the Moody Blues the early Genesis sounded with the haunting flutes and mellotrons. This album contains what I think is one of the best tracks ever produced by Genesis (no, not 'The Knife' !), namely 'Dusk' with its poignant lyrics and beautiful melody played on acoustic guitars and flute.

OK down to business, I know that this particular edition is very sought-after but I would not like anyone to think that it is an Excellent copy. I have drawn attention to its faults rather than its strengths so that potential bidders can make a fully informed decision about whether to go for it or not. I bought this copy recently but found when I got it home that it was no better than the copy I already had, hence this listing.

The cover I would grade as no more than Good, as it is rather scuffed round the edges and has a few light liquid stains in various places (coffee ?). I have highlighted these stains in the photographs. Otherwise there are no tears (apart from a small label tear at the front top right-hand corner)or seam splits.The inside of the gatefold is quite clean, apart from the aforementioned minor stains.The lyric sheet is a little creased but really not too bad overall.

The record is a strong Good, with just a few light surface marks preventing a Very Good. One or two of these are about 2cm long but do not affect the listening experience. I have tried to show these marks in one of the photographs but the record has ended up looking fabulous instead !! It plays very well all the way through, with a few crackles here and there. I have carefully cleaned the record with a proprietory cleaning solution.

I would prefer PayPal, although I will accept a cheque (UK only) on the understanding that I will not post the record until the cheque has cleared.

I do not usually accept returns, as I aim to be totally honest with my descriptions at all times. If buyers are genuinly unhappy with their purchase, they will have to pay the return postage before receiving a refund !

All records are carefully packed, using stiffeners at all times.

Postage to the UK is £3, plus 70p extra for each additional LP. Normally I post second class in the UK, but I will arrange recorded delivery on request. I will post very expensive items either recorded or special delivery as a matter of course.

Postage to Europe is £4, plus £1 extra for each additional LP.
