For your consideration is a rare vintage 10 inch 78 rpm record of “Scissor Grinder Joe” and “Memphis Maybe Man” by Doc Cook and his Dreamland Orchestra. Great early hot jazz from the band’s first recording session with Freddy Keppard sitting in.

This is in VG+ condition. Beautiful copy with good amount of shine, some light scuffs and scratches. Plays a very strong VG+ on my turntable with music clearly listenable over some grainy surface noise typical for these acoustic Gennett pressings. I played this record with two different stylus and the most serious issue I could find were some occasional light pops.

A very choice copy of this hard to find record. I’ve also included an original 1920s Gennett Records sleeve just like the one this record would have originally been sold in back in 1924.

Keep in mind that for the highest fidelity reproduction results, a correct sized, well maintained stylus should always be used and antique records should also always receive a deep cleaning with a stiff bristled brush and a non-alcohol based soap. I do not provide grading beyond what is required by eBay. I try to give the most accurate information but I cannot account for everything. All 78 rpm records will be shipped sandwiched between thick cardboard squares to provide substantial reinforcement for uneven pressure placed on a package during shipment. The record sandwich is then suspended in an oversized box with packing material on all sides.
