These records are being sold for historical collecting only, no political ideology is being promoted.  My second child in two years needs a nursery finished and I need cash.

Up for auction today is a pair of rare historical recordings by the Rhinehart Brothers, recorded by Gennett records in Indiana.

Gennett was famous for its recordings of early jazz greats, this is why these recording are so strange.  They were willing to do the controversial recordings to make money, but did not want to put their label on them because most of their signed and recorded artists were black.  Record #1 is in good shape with only minor surface scratches.  It comes in the original sleeve with the other recordings available also listed.  Record #2 has a deep crack and will certainly not play, it is still an important part of American history suitable for display.  The history of Gennett Records, the Rhinehart Brothers and how these recordings came to be is quite a story.  Please go to Google books and look at the book: “Jelly Roll, Bix, and Hoagy, Gennett Studios and the Birth of Recorded Jazz”  starting on page 36 it tells the story of how the Rhinehart brothers walked into the Gennett recording studio over lunch one day in the early 20s and paid $400 to do some KKK recordings.  The rest is a fascinating piece of American history.
