Description

George Drefus Gallows Songs Philips AY842721 Hi-Fi

Baritone Ronal Jackson with the New Sydney Woodwind Quintet perform “Gallows Lieder” (“Galgenlieder”), set to nonsense poems (sung in German) by Christian Morgenstern, with typically infectious and joyous music by Australian composer, George Drefus.  An Australian stereo pressing on the Philips Label (AY842721)), the labels are plum coloured with silver lettering and a Hi-Fi Stereo logo (very rare in Australia). The record is of excellent appearance and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. The cover has a ding at the top left-hand corner and other minor wear. It comes with a letter from Phonogram’s classical Dept. to Kenneth Hince.
