MY GRADING SYSTEM

I ensure that the condition of every item listed in my store has been accurately graded according to expert guidelines. It is fundamental that buyers understand grading systems in order to be happy with their purchase. Keep in mind that condition matters, as it determines the value of the item, so please read this guide carefully before making an order with me. 

BOOKS & COMICS

As New or Mint: The book is brand new and in the same perfect state as when it was published.

Fine: The book may have been opened and read, but visually there are not noticeable defects.

Very Good:  It may have minor sign of wear, but no tear or stain. The book has been well looked after.

Good: In acceptable condition. The cover may be worn, but pages and texts are still present.  

Fair: Well worn, with significant stain and tear, but all the texts are still readable   

Poor: Damaged book with missing pages or illegible texts.

POSTER AND PRINTS

As New or Mint: In perfect state of preservation, with no sign of wear

Excellent: The print has not damage, but possibly minor/unnoticeable defects due to storage or handling.

Very Good: The print may have been framed for some time and small sign of wear or minor paper discoloration can be noticed

Good: Worn, with visible creases and marks, overall in acceptable condition with no tear or holes.

Fair: Very worn, with noticeable marks, creases, tape stain residue and tear

Poor: Significantly worn with noticeable stain, rips, visible creases and holes. Not in a good state

VINYL RECORD

Mint (M): Brand-new, unplayed and/or still sealed. There is not surface noise or any deterioration in sound quality. The record itself, the cover and any inserts are in perfect state.

Near Mint (NM): Likely the record has never been played and there is no evidence of surface noise, or it has been played once, but the sound quality wasn’t affected. Cover and packaging might have minor/unnoticeable defects due to handling.

Very Good Plus (VG +): The record has been played few times, but the sound quality wasn’t much affected. Mild surface marks and light scratches on disc, and ring wear or little discoloration on cover are barely noticeable.

Very Good (VG): There is deterioration in sound quality with evident surface noise upon playing, but not jumps. Cover and inserts may have small creases around the edges, mild discoloration or ring wear

Good (G): The record can be played through without skipping, but there is a significant deterioration in sound quality due to scuffs and groove wear. Cover and inner sleeve are worn, with small tear, creases or spine splits

Fair: Playable, but with evident surface noise and/or jumps. The cover and contents have stain, tear, creases, and other noticeable defects.

Poor: The record has significant and visible scratches and it doesn’t play properly. Bad surface noise and jumps are audible. The cover and contents are badly damaged and may missing parts. 

CD

Digipacks and booklets are graded with the same method as record covers and sleeves. Standard jewel cases won’t be graded, as they can be easily replaceable.

Compact discs can have visible scratches and play well, or they can look perfect, but possibly be faulty.  They will be always tested unless they are not sealed.

Mint (M): The disc and booklet are perfect condition. The CD is unplayed and/or sealed.

Near Mint (NM): The CD may have been played, but was handled with good care. There are no scratches on disc and not sign of wear on digipack, booklet or any insert

Very Good (VG): The CD has light scuffs/scratches, but plays perfectly. Mild cosmetic wear on Digipack/Booklet/Insert can be just noticed

Good (G): The disc has significant scuffs/scratches, but plays fine. Digipak/Booklet and insert are worn with visible marks, but no rips

Fair (F) or Poor (P): The CD is damaged and may not play all of the tracks. Digipak/Booklet/Insert are heavily stained, with tear, colour fading or missing parts.

CASSETTE

Cassettes even when are brand-new can deteriorate after years. I will only test cassettes that are not sealed.

Mint (M): Brand-new and factory sealed.

Near Mint (NM): The tape looks new and is possibly unplayed. The sleeve is in perfect state with not, or very little sign of handling

Very Good (VG): The plastic of the tape can be discoloured or have some mild wear, but the cassette plays fine, even if a little degradation of sound can be expected. The sleeve is slightly worn and with minor color fading 

Good (G): The tape is very worn, but not broken and plays OK. Sleeve is stained, faded and may have small tear.

Fair (F) or Poor (P): The tape is damaged, screws or teeth may be missing and it doesn’t play properly. The sleeve is heavily worn with tear/rip and evident stain

SHIPPING 

I use Royal Mail shipping service for UK and non - UK orders.  For parcels that exceed a certain weight a different shipping method may be employed. All international deliveries for orders above £20.00 will be tracked.

Happy to combine postage for multiple orders

RETURN 

If you are unhappy with your purchase you can return it to me within 14 working days of delivery.  The item must be back in the same condition that you receive it. Refunds are inclusive of postage cost and will be processed and applied within three working days to your original method of payment. Please note: This only applies to UK buyers. International postage costs are not refundable.
