You are bidding on a Vinyl Release featuring George Harrison (of the Beatles) live at Madison Square Garden recorded in 1971.  The LP comes from a small label (FRT Records BRK1001) in the USA.  This is not an audiophile album, more of a historic keepsake item. There are plenty of audio pops, this is from the pressing and vinyl it was pressed on, not from abuse

This LP is more of a “collectible” than a great sounding live recording.  On August 1, 1971 George Harrison and friends performed two shows in Madison Square Garden to raise funds to alleviate hunger in Bangla Desh.  His friends included Billy Preston, Ringo Starr, Leon Russel, Eric Clapton, and surprise guest, the reclusive Bob Dylan.  The show got a lot of publicity, but due to legal problems (and who knows what else) the official album was not released until  the end of 1971.  Many of us could not wait, so we purchased this inferior, unofficial version.   We purchased this item in 1971, and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades. 

The bad is that the LP does not sound good, the art is cheesy, and it is only a single disc. The good, (besides we got to hear the music a few months early) is that the songs are believed to be from the afternoon show, not the evening show that was presented on the official album.

Please remember that this album was well taken care of, but it was played as part of our record collection decades ago.

This is an audience recording of the famous 1971 Concert For Bangladesh. It comes with a printed B&W insert.

Rating:  C   This was taped at the afternoon show, the evening performance is the one that appears on the legit box set. A few of the songs have acceptable fidelity but others are below average. The official release is far superior.

1971 Concert For Bangla Desh Private Pressing Vinyl Record Lp. This comes with light pale blue record labels. The cover was a plain white cover and a piece of artwork pasted on it. This is a private pressing, with LOTS OF AUDIO POPS, All of these copies are this way, period. This is not an audiophile album, more of a historic keepsake item. There are plenty of audio pops, this is from the pressing and vinyl it was pressed on, not from abuse. I am the original owner, and bought this from the Forest Record shop in Dayton, Ohio. This was on the streets about a week after the concerts.  After the song Something, George asks the crowd to leave quietly because there has been some trouble outside. Then he starts into the song Bangla Desh. We think this is a recording from the afternoon concert.

"This Bangla Desh concert LP was issued in 1971 by FRT Records. The plain white sleeve carried a black on white insert with small, unflattering cartoon drawings of the artists. Black vinyl. The labels are blank blue (some were stamped "SIDE A", "SIDE B" and/or "33 1/3 RPM.
