George Harrison DEMO All Those Years Ago/Writing's On The Wall
Here we are Harrison fans...A RARE treat for you-which is affordable! This was George's tribute to Lennon-who had just been murdered the year before. George had originally written the song for Ringo (who decided not to use it), but following John's murder, Geroge went and changed the lyrics on top of the backing track which featured Ringo. Later he and also got Paul & Linda to pop in to do some backing vocals....SO, technically this is the first post Beatles song to feature George, Paul and Ringo!
It was released in the UK on the 15th of May 1981 and got to the highest position of 13-staying in the UK charts for 13 weeks.
This copy was pressed in France on the 12th of May 1981...3 days before the offical release in the Uk charts. It has the white DEMO label, with it's catalogue number 17807 stamped to side 1, as well as the 'WEA' accrediatation and hand written 'George Harrison' in blue pen. Side 2: Just has the simple 'B' stamped onto the wonderfully clean label. Matrix numbers: Side 1: WEA 17807 A (etched in hand)...Also has the stamped 'J' which is typical for Demo's Side 2: WEA 17807 B (etched in hand) There is also 'MPO' etched in hand to both sides.
Not only is the vinyl in tip-top condition, with wonderful sound reproduction, but the picture sleeve is unusual too!
The picture sleeve is in Near Mint condition, with just light creasing. The image to the front is a scaled-down version of the end product. Interestingly, it also has BOTH logo's: Dark Horse (to the bottom left) and Warner Bros. (to the bottom right). To the back is a black and white photo, with GREEN WRITING of the album name the two tracks on this vinyl are taken from: "Somewhere in England" Printed in France......Really quite rare. Sharp corners. No Writing Simply superb.
