Description: Here is a nice pair of Berliner records featuring the early phonograph recording pioneer George J. Gaskin.
Record 1 contains "Hot Tamale Alley" (Cohan) # 507. Announced. Oct. 14 1896 w.d.c. Recorded on same day as other disc in this auction! Good Song.
Record 2 contains "Dixie" # 942. dim announcement. Oct. 14, 1896 w.d.c. First disc record of Dixie? Ends with "Three Cheers For Dixie! Hooray Hooray Hooray" from crowd (studio hands?).
Condition: Record 1 unfortunately has a bad crack completely through the grooves as seen in the pic below. Nevertheless, it not only plays through, it actually plays better than many Berliners I've heard before. Every word is understood even though the visual condition is only V-, plus the crack.
Record 2 is in average V condition. As with most Berliners the sound improves as the disc plays on.
Grading is on a scale from P for poor, F for fair, V for average, and E for excellent. plus or minus signs give further indication.
Terms: PayPal is easiest but money order, cashier's check, e-check, or personal check (may be held to clear first) are all ok. Let me know if you will choosing anything other than PayPal.
