George Wallington "SHOWCASE" Blue Note 10" 5045, "P", "RVG," DG, Mono Vinyl

This is the 10" 1954 first-pressing, "RVG" etched,  Deep-Groove, Flat Rim, Frame  Cover, "P"-pressing of George Wallington's "SHOWCASE" on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 5045. (No "R" under "Note" on label) Musicians include Dave Burns, Jimmy Cleveland, Danny Bank, Oscar Pettiford, Frank Foster, Kenny "Klook" Clarke. Arrangement by Quincy Jones.

VINYL has very low-level consistent surface noise  on both sides; occasional ticks, pops. Some songs dead quiet. Plays very well overall. No distortion. No locked grooves. No warps. Good gloss, both sides. Several long scuffs, none feelable. As with all Lexington Ave to New York USA Blue Note pressings, imperfections do not detract from this powerfully recorded and pressed vinyl. Instruments are clear and very dynamic.  The Deep-Grooved "767 Lexington Ave NYC labels" show spindle marks, one label stained, with "Shattuck Hospital Radio" stamp.

The LAMINATED FRAME COVER is in very nice shape, corners worn. Sticker (1" by 2 1/2") on front. See photos. Spine clean. Seams clean except for 1/2" split lower seam near opening.  Back jacket mostly clean, shows aging, paper stock torn near top. See photos.

    

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
