Excellent example of Victor V-40138 — Georgia Yellow Hammers — from Victor's V-40000 country/old-time series, late 1920s. Both sides written by Bud Landress. Side A: 'Big Ball In Memphis' (Bud Landress) — Georgia Yellow Hammers, Violin Banjo & Guitars — matrix BVE-47189 Side B: 'Black Annie' (Bud Landress) — Georgia Yellow Hammers, Violin Banjo & Guitars — matrix BVE-47194 The Georgia Yellow Hammers were a Gordon County, Georgia string band featuring Charles Moody Jr., Bud Landress, Phil Reeve, and Bill Chitwood. Both sides from this pressing were later reissued on County LP 504 and the BACM CD D 073 compilation, confirming sustained collector interest. Condition: Excellent (EX). Shellac surface is mirror-like with virtually no visible wear under light. Labels clean and crisp, no stamps, no stickers, no writing of any kind. Sleeve: Original Victor Talking Machine Company 'Orthophonic Recording' illustrated sleeve, pre-RCA Victor era. Sleeve is VG+ with light age toning on edges only, no tears, no writing, structurally excellent. Standard 10-inch shellac, plays at 78 RPM. Ships carefully packed in rigid mailer.
