Description

This is a very nice 180g stereo copy of Ivan Davis (piano), Lorin Maazel and the Cleveland Orchestra’s recording of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris as issued by King Super Analogue (catalogue number KIJC 9223). This copy was pressed in the USA in the late 90s. The original recording was released in 1964. The record is in excellent condition as I bought it new and only played it a few times. There is a small light 1” diagonal scuff near the beginning of side 1 but that does not seem to result in any noticeable surface noise.  Side 2 has no scuffs or scratches. The jacket is a plain white jacket.  I bought these white jacket versions from Elusive Disc many years ago.  They seemed to be some sort of overstock LPs from King Records that they were carrying at the time. I found copies of the photos of the original covers on the internet and printed them for inclusion with the records so that I could tell what the record was.  I also wrote the title along the spine.  There is a bar code sticker also from Elusive Disc. There are none of the usual King Record inserts nor the thick plastic fold-over sleeve with the gold sticker that makes these records look like they are sealed.  The record is in a heavy plastic outer sleeve that I use for all of my records.

The record has been cleaned with Disc Doctor fluids on a VPI cleaner followed by a second cleaning with a Audio Desk Ultra sonic cleaner, and treated with LAST record preservative.  More recently the records were recleaned with the latest version of the Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner.  It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag.

The record was recently play graded using a Benz Micro LPS cartridge on a VPI Classic 4 turntable. The sound of these King Super Analogue recordings is really spacious and dynamic. The record plays generally very quietly with approximately 8 light ticks noted on side one and 22 on side two.

The recording is from my personal collection which I am in the process of reducing.  Look for additional listings to come as I get time to re-listen and grade them.

Multiple LPs can be combined in a shipment to save shipping costs.  If you purchase multiple LPs from me, please wait for me to send you an invoice so that I can calculate the correct shipping cost and save money over what eBay would calculate from the individual listings.
