Gil Melle Quintet Patterns in Jazz Blue Note BLP 1517 Toshiba Japan Issue, my best guess would be mid 70s - not a candidate of many reissues, this one. Oscar Pettiford on Bass. A truly superb date. When I was asked to put together a playlist by Uk Vibe after the death of Rudy Van Gelder, Arab Barber Blues from this was one of the early candidates, 2nd tune in. The 2 hour programme is still out there if you fancy a listen. For me it is one of the most innovative 1500 series lp's. Gil was a visual artist as well, so that beautiful sleeve art is probably his, used in a Reid Miles design. Near mint record and sleeve, plays near mint. If the appearance or playgrade suggests it requires it, our records are cleaned on a wash and vac machine, using art du son fluid in distilled water. This is already in a new heavy poly outer with antistatic inners added with outer sleeve and records all layered behind each other to prevent splits.
