GILBERTO GIL

JA & GIL - GILBERTO GIL '69 (CELEBRO ELETRONICO)

(BR. PHILIPS, R 765.087L, 1969)

MEGA RARE LIMITED MAIL-ORDER BRAZILIAN PRESSING of Gilberto Gil's superb third album! Excellent tropicalia psych album with arrangements by the legendary Rogerio Duprat - full of funk, fuzz and crazy psych sounds! This is a little-known limited pressing which was only available through the Brazilian magazine Ja through a mail-order deal - it was not available in the shops! THIS IS A COMPLETE EXAMPLE WITH THE INTACT DIE-CUT 'WINDOW' SLEEVE, THE POSTER (see 2nd and 3rd pics) AND THE STAPLED BIO & LYRICS BOOKLET WHICH IS COMPLETE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SPINE OF THE SLEEVE (see 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th pics)!! The poster and booklet are often missing! This has clearly been very well looked after. The disc itself is an identical pressing to the standard issue - IT IS THE FIRST MONO PRESSING - this album was issued in mono-only at the time (stereo records were not distributed in Brazil until 1971). This is an ideal one for any serious collector of Brazilian music - I myself have been collecting Brazilian music for many years and this is definitely one of the more elusive albums from the tropicalia period - and this is also the best example I have ever seen! You will not find another in such nice shape! This one is in great shape! You will be not be disappointed! Don't miss out!

ALL BRAZILIAN MUSIC LOVERS:

I also currently have ORIGINAL PRESSINGS of Marcos Valle's Vento Sul and Previsao Do Tempo - be sure to take a look!!

Vinyl is in EX+ condition : in lovely shape, no visible marks, looks and sounds great

Laminated 'unipak' gatefold die-cut sleeve is in VG++ condition : light wear, very light ring wear on front and back light creases, spine has light wear, die-cut window on front is all intact but has three tiny nicks on the right side - one near the bottom and two near the top, the right hand side of the front panel has two tiny nicks at the centre, corners are a little dented and worn but not too bad, bottom edges are fine, top edge is split all across but this isn't too bad because of the 'unipak' design - the disc comes out at the centre of the spine - I am being incredibly strict here, it still is in very nice shape!

Poster is in VG++ condition : right and bottom edges are a little worn, light handling creases, back has light brown age spots (see 3rd pic), still looks nice!

Booklet is in EX condition : light handling creases, edges have yellowed a little with age, still in great shape!

Run-out grooves:

SIDE 1 - AA 768.087-1L-1 handwritten

SIDE 2 - AA 768.087-2L-1 handwritten
