Grading Standards:

            Record

Grading is based on the following criteria:

Sealed = store stock new; I don't have many of these. 

Near Mint = like new or near new with only one or two small insignificant defects, a 9 or better on a 1-10 scale.

Mint- = extremely nice. Would be Near Mint, except for a couple of light hairlines or scuffs, which should not affect play 

VG++ = a very nice record with all or nearly all of its original gloss but may have a few more light, surface marks, hairlines, needle tracks or the like which should not materially effect play

VG+ = used record, but nice, that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.

VG = a well-used record that still should sound OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.

VG- = a very worn record that plays through without skipping, but could be much better

Good =  it may play but with a lot of surface noise, pops, snaps, crackles, etc.

            Cover:

There are many possible defects regarding covers.  It is therefore hard to be as specific with respect to them.  Some general guidelines follow however.

Generally more weight will be given to the front cover than back when assigning an overall grade

Covers with cuts, holes, or marks will never be graded near mint regardless of other factors.

Record company stickers do not reduce the grade, but those affixed by owners, merchants, etc. do.

Holes or cuts will reduce the grade in general; but this may vary depending on other factors.

Seam splits reduce the value of the cover.

 Packing, Shipping, and Handling:

Great care will be taken to assure that your record arrives safely.  Each record is shipped in a special lp mailer with the record and sleeve outside of the cover itself.
