This handsome and rare LP from Deutsch Grammophon (419 172-1, German pressing, white circle label, DDD stereo) features Emil Gilels’ magnificent accounts of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas No. 5 in C minor Op. 10 No. 1, No. 10 in G Major Op. 14 No. 2, No. 19 in G minor Op. 49 No. 1, and No. 20 in G Major Op. 49 No. 2, all recorded in the rich acoustics of Jesus Christus-Kirche, Berlin (dates noted below).

The head of production for this album was Hanno Rinke, the recording supervisor Werner Mayer, and the balance engineer Klaus Scheibe.
Incidentally, the cover photo of Gilels was taken by Susesch Bayat, Hamburg. There are fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket – provided in English, German, French, and Italian – by Dr. Hartmut Fladt.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. This was a promo copy and there is a stamp, consisting of needle-like holes, at the lower-right corner. However, there are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
