This handsome and rare LP from Deutsch Grammophon (419 173-1, German pressing, white circle label, DDD stereo) features Emil Gilels’ magnificent accounts of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 11 in B-flat Major Op. 22* and the two “Kurfürsten-Sonaten”, recorded in the rich acoustics of Jesus Christus-Kirche, Berlin in June* and September 1985.

The head of production for this album was Hanno Rinke, the recording supervisor Werner Mayer, and the balance engineers Hans-Peter Schweigmann (Op. 22) and Klaus Scheibe.
Incidentally, the cover photo of Gilels was taken by Susesch Bayat, Berlin. There are fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket – provided in English, German, French, and Italian – by Dr. Hartmut Fladt.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is a radio station sticker to the rear panel, as well as minor bumping at corners and slight edgewear. However, there are no seamsplits, bends, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP is near-MINT. Visually, there is a small radio station catalog sticker side to one side. In terms of sound, though surfaces are not absolutely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a near-mint collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
