Here we have Italian baritone Giuseppe de Luca on a vanishingly RARE Red 10" G&T number 5243. The selection performed is "Vien Leonora" from Favorita (Donizetti). It was recorded in Milan in 1902, for goodness sakes, and is very clean and tidy (especially for a disc that's 121 years old!) IT PLAYS BEAUTIFULLY and features piano accompaniment. De Luca was admired by Puccini, and created the role of Sharpless in the world premiere of Madame Butterfly (at La Scala Milan in 1904). The disc is as rare as a polite child or a straight answer from a politician. It is very clean with the usual satin sheen of a record of this early date. There is one small solitary insignificant blemish, a very light, very short sleeve-mark which won't interfere with your listening enjoyment in any way. The disc has the usual "dimpled" surface of records of this era, and plays perfectly on our ludicrously expensive transcription turntable with its correctly bias-adjusted arm. Conditionwise, using the "Record Collector" magazine standards of loveliness, let's call it at least a VERY strong VG+ or maybe better. You'll never find another.NO OVERSEAS bidders please.
