The first time I saw Gloria Swanson in the Movie Sunset Boulevard..I fell in Love! Not so much with Gloria..but with Norma Desmond. After all these years I still think of "them" as one and the same. Thus began decades of collecting all things Gloria and Sunset Boulevard. I have signed Photos, letters, artwork, personal memorabilia. I also managed to get autographs and photos of every major castmember of the movie including the Director, Billy Wilder, although I am still on the hunt for Cecil B. DeMille. I had also "heard" that Miss Swanson had made a demo recording of a musical that she hoped to bring to Broadway but had never seen it. Was it just a fable like Noah's Ark on Mt. Ararat or the "Lost City of Gold"? I was never sure. Then one day last year I went into a Vintage Music Store here in Worcester, MA and saw "IT" on a shelf. The price was about the same as a new color TV BUT I just HAD to have it!! I even went out the same day and purchased a turntable as I had long ago discarded mine in favor of a CD player. I LOVED Gloria, AND she WAS a LEGEND..but God only knows..she really could not sing! Just the same..THIS WAS A PRIZE! Last week on my Birthday a Dear Friend who knows I am obsessed with Miss Desmond...gave me the same LP!! He had called a Dealer in New York City and actually drove to New York and back to get this for me. I was truly touched. Having two was NOT a problem for me. I framed one with an Autograph and kept the other out to play from time to time. THEN...I saw a pair of Gold Lame Gloves being offered on Ebay, by the American Cancer Society, that were worn by MISS GYPSY ROSE LEE while performing at "The Old Howard Theater" in Boston, MA. I just HAD to have those too! Her son, Erik Lee Preminger had donated them, 10 years ago, to the Cancer Society Store to be put on display ONLY! The Society contacted Mr. Lee's lawyer telling him they needed the money and not a display. The result was.. SELL THEM! Well..those cost me almost $400.00 with the S&H and after they arrived I just knew I would have to make a decision. I just cannot keep everything and continue to buy...so I AM LISTING ONE of the only 2 LP's Of this UNPRODUCED Musical I have ever seen. The cover is FABULOUS with very little wear on the bottom spine from sliding in and out of a shelf...but.. NO breaks or splits. The LP itself is in WONDERFUL Condition with only ONE tiny half inch mark that does NOT affect the playing in any way! These are the ONLY 2 LP's I have ever seen and here is YOUR chance to own one of them! Here is a further description: GLORIA SWANSON in "BOULEVARD" BLD LP of a demo for an unproduced musical of "Sunset Boulevard" (1958) Starring GLORIA SWANSON, with composers Richard Stapley, Dick Hughes. A true and fascinating rarity. This particular musical stage version of "Sunset Boulevard" was never produced but the score was recorded and issued on this hard-to-find LP album. GLORIA SWANSON once more plays Norma and sings her songs, with the composers filling in on all the other roles - Joe, Max and Betty.. Album and cover are in VERY GOOD condition. SONGS: Maps!
