It takes a lot of determination and a desire to follow through with a long-playing album. There are staggering hours of rehearsals, sittings at the photographers, gathering material, arrangements, and then, of course, the final session. The GOOD NEWS OUARTET possess that unusual quality and tremendous desire to sing the Gospel. 'J'his album is a stimulating experience for the true gospel song lover. They radiate an exumberence that is contagious, as they sing with true pleasure in their spritely interpretation of each song presented. They just seem to light candles of faith for their Lord. Seeing how they have grown to be a spiritual blessing to so many, it gives me great joy to write this article concerning their third album. Ringing the lead is their newest member, Rev. Elmer Luster. Elmer would certainly be an asset to any quartet. Virginia (Jenny) Odom sings the alto and is the wife of the bass singer, T. J. Odom. The dose harmony of this fine Christian couple is indicitive of the home life they share together. Jack Sproles is a personable performer and well able to establish rapport as he • sings the baritone for the group. He comes from a well known gospel singing family. ^he voices of these artists, carefully blended together, proclaim the living reality of God's eternal love and concern for His children. his album contains, what I believe to be, twelve of the best songs that the GOOD NEWS QUARTET has done.
