Description

Selected titles from the private collection of a music business veteran are now being made available for the first time. Titles offered by this Seller are one-owner and came directly from the pressing plant, record company warehouse, other label reps or record store unless otherwise noted. 

Grading is based on visual inspection.

Album ships in a 2 MIL poly cover sleeve.

I package records outside the cover to avoid seam splits.

  • This Double Album is First Pressing Promotional Copy that has never been played.
  • The matrix run-outs end in 1A, 1B, 1B & 1B.
  • The Promotion Not For Sale stamp is on the labels.
  • The paper on board gatefold cover has tight seams and a stiff spine. It shows some shelf wear.
  • The Promo sticker is on the front cover.
  • The inner sleeves are the WB Loss Leaders catalog.
  • Seller got this new from WB in 1975. It has been in storage for 40 years.
This was the first Lightfoot compilation to feature music from his 1970s Reprise Records albums, and also includes re-recordings of his 1960s United Artists hits (tracks 1-10). This served to update the earlier recordings to the same style as his later work and gives the album a level of consistency often lacking in similar compilations. Lightfoot's reasons for re-recording the United Artists tracks were explained in the liner notes as being because "he doesn't like listening to his early work". Despite covering only the first decade of his career (and lacking one of his biggest hit singles, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", which was recorded the following year), Gord's Gold has remained the most commercially popular Lightfoot compilation.
