Description
It is my privilege to offer the most valuable lp I have ever had in ten years of being on ebay and twenty plus years of loving vinyl.
Rca Lsc-2449 an Rca Red Seal Living Stereo pressing from 1960. The Royal Opera House Orchestra of Covent Garden led by Alexander Gibson. Ballet Music from Gounod's Faust and the suite from Bizet's Carmen.
Side 1 contains the waltz,ensemble,Dance of the Nubians,Cleopatra's Dance,Dance of hte Trojan Maidens,Helen's Dance and Bacchanalia from Faust plus the Funeral March of a MArionette.
Side 2 has the suite from Carmen.
The jacket is as close to near mint as you can get with no rub or ring wear, no scratches, no marks,no nothing. No splits.Only one of the four corners could be vaguely called creased. Great cover photo. The lp is represented by three pictures of each side. The mirror finish is absolutely beautiful on both sides of this lp. I had to look VERY hard to even find one light mark per side. Both sides track with great precision.
Specifically,side 1's surface is exceedingly clean,however, throughout most of its play, I can hear a light mostly steady fuzz which I cannot account for. I tracked both sides on my Dual 1215S turntable.Side two has one light mark and its wear can be traced to a lesser fuzz that is not steady. The sound reproduction is wonderful and the few areas of louder passages really have punch with no audible distortion. Side one I would judge as a VG+, conservatively.
Side 2 has a slight groove shimmy which I will elaborate on. If you watch the tone arm as it plays it will cycle from left to right a millimeter or two. When listening to side two, it is very difficult to hear this happening. Only the keenest ear would perceive even the slightest tonal shifts as a result. Side 2 I would grade as a VG++,conservatively.
Now that i have been very clear on the condition of this lp, I still must say this is a heck of a find .
