Description

GRACHAN MONCUR III        Some Other Stuff         Blue Note BST 84177
Up for auction is an original 1965 mono Blue Note P-pressing of Grachan Moncur's timeless summer 1964 quintet session, "Some Other Stuff". Three-fifths of what would (in scant months) be The Miles Davis Quintet + Cecil McBee (and Moncur of course). Eons ahead of its' time. One of Blue Note's finest mid-60s avant sessions to be sure. Kind of rare in this condition.

DEAD WAX INFO:  Side 1 has BNLP 4177-A etched and VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax. Side 2 has BNLP 4177-B etched and VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax. Both sides have the Plastylite "P" etched into the dead wax. Stone original 1965 Blue Note mono P-Press.   VINYL VISUAL: VG+ with a couple of SHALLOW spindle marks, and some minor paper rash. SEE PICTURES PLEASE
VINYL PLAY GRADE:  VG+ at least and would be close to NM if not for a tiny bit of distortion on Moncur's trombone Side 1 Cut 1 (Gnostic). Hardly distracting and depending on your rig, may not even be audible. For those fitted with a mono cartridge, this may not appear at all. Also, VERY LITTLE background noise present. Spindle marks are on NO audible consequence.
COVER VISUAL: VG and maybe a bit better with some medium general wear. Spine is getting a little chewed up, but still reads ok. Name in marker on rear. Small starting split top seam (about 1 inch). Shows really well, actually. SEE PICTURES PLEASE
Comes with original 26 Year Blue Note paper inner which is in nice shape. Vinyl is held in a Spin Care audiophile plastic inner.   DETAILS ON SELLER AND SHIPPING
HELLO ALL. My name is Jamie, and I have been collecting records steadily for over 45 years.  After a bit of a respite from selling on Ebay, I am back and will be selling a ton of stuff over the next few years. My tastes run all over the map, so there will be something for everyone. All opened items will be visually AND aurally graded. All Dead Wax info will be listed. Play grade is done on a Thorens TD 165 through Yamaha amplification and JBL reference headphones (treble set high so there will be no surprises when you get the item)
ALL ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED WITH PROPER MAILERS AND EXTRA PADDING, PARTICULARLY AT THE CORNERS. I HAVE MADE FAR TOO MANY PURCHASES ON EBAY WHERE THE ITEM HAS ARRIVED WITH DINGED CORNERS DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL. BY USING FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP IN ALL FOUR CORNERS, YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF AN ITEM WITHOUT DINGED CORNERS (OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOR THAT MATTER).             Non-tracked shipping throughout the U.S.A will be $13 CANADIAN per item, as will tracked shipping within Canada. Tracked shipping to the U.S.A. will be $16 CANADIAN for items under 500g, and slightly more for items over 500g. Most single sleeve items can be shipped as under 500g. Gatefolds and multi-sets will be over 500g.
Being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing ALL of the shipping material cost, and some of the actual postage cost.
If you have issue with an item, PLEASE work with me to achieve an outcome that will be to your satisfaction. I do offer full refunds (excluding cost to get it back to me), on any item that is not satisfactory.       SINCE SHIPPING OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE (Thank You Canada Post), I will rarely list gatefolds or multi-items for sale overseas. IF ANYONE OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS CRAZY INTERESTED IN ANY ITEM, I WILL QUOTE SHIPPING ON REQUEST. Since a lot of the stuff that I will be selling is of higher end quality, rarely will things be offered overseas. Sorry folks. Again, I can consider requests on an item-by-item basis. THANKS FOR READING, everyone.       Occasionally I will be selling rare and collectible CDs. Shipping obviously will be much less, around $5 CANADIAN within North America.
