Grachan Moncur III & The Jazz Composer's Orchestra – Echoes Of Prayer UK Stereo JCOA J2003 First Press, Jazz, Free Jazz
Grachan Moncour III is an American jazz trombonist. This obscure LP, his fourth major project, preceded a long period in obscurity. The Jazz Composers Orchestra commissioned the lengthy four-movement piece "Echoes of Prayer" from Moncur, and the all-star orchestra performs the work with its composer. Recorded April 11, 1974 at Blue Rock Studio, New York City
The unlaminated printed silk finish card cover is graded as EX+. There is no significant rub wear. The spine is not pinched and is clearly readable. The entry edge has little if any wear. Minimal ring wear when viewed at a certain angle. The rear of the sleeve is printed with black text on a white background. As is usual with such a background there are signs of handling but nothing disastrous. The original paper inner is not damaged and is also graded as EX+.
The vinyl without doubt grades as NM. It has clearly not been played to any great extent - if at all. The labels are clean and there are no spindle marks. On play grading today there was some very minimal static on the run in on both sides but nothing really substantial, maybe the odd pop or click during the remainder of the album including between the tracks - Certainly nothing which would spoil the enjoyment of the record when listening at high volume. It plays superbly with very strong audio. The surface is very clean, glossy and shiny, an great copy (the photographs of the album itself show the reflection of the camera stand - apologies).
This must be extremely rare in this condition and verging on being an archive copy.
