Description
Background
Over the next 12-18 months I’ll be selling off a massive collection of records (5000+) from a shop that shut it’s doors in the early 1980’s. The collection covers a period from the late 1960’s through to the time of the shop’s closure and includes large quantities of 60s/70’s rock, progressive and modern classical music. Most of the items are unplayed (or at most have sustained a single play) unless otherwise noted. You don’t get many opportunities to purchase unplayed 70’s shop stock anymore! This short paragraph of background information is included whenever an item has been sourced from this collection.
UNSOLD SHOP STOCK Super RARE 1970 DERAM RED STEREO pressing of Granny’s Intentions ‘Honest Injun’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: DERAM SML 1060). I believe this is the only L.P. issued by this Irish band and although he isn’t listed as a band member at this time (only thanked on the sleeve) as far as I’m aware this album features the talents of Gary Moore. If you want an idea of what this gem sounds like type the opening track ‘Maybe’ into YouTube. Again, this item comes from unsold stock and this is the first copy of this album I have ever seen (in 12+ years). So many of the other ‘rare’ DERAM albums seem to turn up more regularly than this baby. I would hazard a guess that this has been played once and I’m grading the vinyl as being in NEAR MINT condition. I do note a couple of small hairline scratches in close proximity on the A-side but these aren’t enough for me to reconsider my grading and are the only marks on this copy visible under an intense light. The sleeve is graded as being in EXCELLENT condition (more condition details below).
Tracklisting Side One:

Condition
L.P, Cover
The cover is graded as being in EXCELLENT condition. There is still a certain ‘fresh’ appearance to the laminate on the front cover and there has been no rubbing-away of the black print on the rear of the sleeve whatsoever. The flaws are a light crease to the top-right of the sleeve that can be seen on the cardboard to the rear and is discernible under a light on the laminate on the front of the sleeve. All the corners have received a light knock. Knocks to the top left-hand and bottom right-hand corners have resulted in small bubbles in the laminate in said corners. On this point I should say that there is a little evidence that the spine has been ‘snipped’ as part of the manufacturing process which is the likely cause of some of this ‘damage’. There are also one of two very light creases in the sleeve where it has been held in someone’s hands. If these points sound pedantic I should point out that they really are and this is more than a respectable looking copy that would never need to be upgraded (indeed you’d struggle to find better anyway).
Vinyl
This graded as being in NEAR MINT condition. A couple of light hairline scratches are visible in close proximity on the A-side but under an intense light these are the only marks I can see. I should point out that the labels are spotless and are not dirty or discoloured but as white as the day this was manufactured! Lastly the vinyl is stored in the original blue and white inner bag, which results in the blue STEREO sleeve being visible through the round cutout on the rare of the sleeve. Anybody familiar with DECCA pressings of the period will know what I mean!
Concluding Remarks
A very RARE psych/progressive album that doesn’t come-up for sale that often. You are not going to locate a superior copy! Please check my other auctions for further items from the same source in similarly immaculate condition. Save me as a Favourite Seller because there is plenty more good stuff where this came from!
General Terms etc.
I endeavour to be accurate with all my grading. All items are graded under an intense light. I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years and I would describe myself as being conservative (I think my feed-back speaks for itself in this respect)! If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then contact me.
Payment is possible via Pay Pal and Personal Cheque. Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed. Due to Pay Pal rules (and an unscrupulous buyer at the backend of 2012) all goods paid for via Pay Pal will now have to be sent tracked. Please feel free to contact me if you want to discuss postage in advance of the auction’s end.
Overseas buyers are welcome. You don’t need to email me. So long as you can pay me efficiently (i.e. Pay Pal) and I can get the item to you then that is good enough for me. However, if you want me to investigate postage costs overseas in advance of auction end then let me know!
