Grateful Dead Live/Dead 2 LP Gatefold 2nd 1970 Green WB Label VG/VG++
2 LP gatefold w/ 1970 2nd label (green "WB")
Cover: VG. Typical wear and tear of items of this vintage at corners, minor scuffing on all spines, but all seams are solid."229" written in ink at top left hand front cover. Reasonable ringwear on front and back sleeves.
Discs: 1/4 and 2/3 late 60s & early 70s side pairing.
Visually: VG. Side 1-under bright light, very glossy but 5-6 very visible scratches that aren't feelable and don't produce noise or skips.
Side 2-under bright light, very glossy but about 10 ill-defined surface scratches, none feelable or producing noise/skips.
Side 3-under bright light, very glossy, but 4-5 long hairline scratches, none feelable or producing noise/skips. Probably the least impressive side visually under bright light.
Side 4-under bright light, very glossy,4-5 small scratches that aren't feelable and don't produce noise or skips.
Audio: VG++.Near mint, very quiet surfaces before the music starts and in the softer(the artist listed here of course having used dynamics regularly in live shows)spots.
Side 1- upon first needledrop at the beginning, there is near silence before "Dark Star" begins and remains so until about 75% of the way through the side when 4-5 very quiet ticks occur (with each revolution I believe) during a softer area of music. Then it goes back to practically noiseless as it began.
Side 2-at beginning needledrop at dead wax area, there is distant crackle(at 0.5-1 out of 10-10 being the worst-for a noise level)at the fade in of "Saint Stephen" and it continues for about 30 more seconds intermittently before dying out completely-resulting in about 3-4 quiet ticks during the intro.
Side 3-brief low-level static well before "Turn On Your Lovelight" fades in(at 0.5 out of 10 for the noise level) & perhaps one quiet tick through the whole side detected, otherwise silent backgrounds for the entire side.
Side 4-silent at the beginning dead wax area needledrop and largely (99%) remains so throughout the side.
Overall a super listening copy. I'd personally call it mint. But, in the name of listing every detectable flaw I can, I'll formally list the disc's audio as VG++ here.
