Our Great Saviour I V sEN OF PRAISE is the name of a group of the men of Southside Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, who sing every Sunday in the services of the church, bringing spiritual blessing to many hearts as they sing. United by a common desire to serve the Lord in the music ministry of their church, these laymen from varied walks of life blend their voices intoonestirringsound of praise to their Savior. This recording and the two companion volumes of men's arrangements by Frank Garlock are both named MEN OF PRAISE after this group of God’s faithful men. The warm, rich sound of a strong chorusof men’s voices can stir the hearts of God’s people as little else can. Our churches need male leadership, particularly in the area of music, and what better way to strengthen this leadership than to include in the music program a group of men of the church who sing together. To help encourage Bible-believing churches to start or rejuvenate a men’s chorus. Musical Ministries has published two volumes of arrangements by Frank Garlock written especially for just such a group. These songs can be sung by a male quartet, but they are arranged with the men’s chorus in mind and will sound best when sung by a group of men as they are on this album. Each fall, the Southside Baptist Church and Musical Ministries jointly sponsor a choral seminar for choir directors of fundamental churches. The third annual seminar was held at the church in September of 1975, and was attended by 72 choir directors from 20 different states. The sound you hear on this recording is that unique group of men singing the twelve arrangements contained in MEN OF PRAISE, Volumes I & II. Each side of the record contains the songs of one volume. Musical Ministries is publishing these arrangements and producing this album with the hope that this step forward will encourage God’s men in local churches everywhere to join together in providing male leadership for the music ministries of their churches by becoming “MEN OF PRAISE.” I V lusical Ministries was founded to give leadership to people who want their music to match the standards of the Word of God. This ministry includes several aspects: the Symphony of Life Seminar, sponsored by Bob Jones University, showing churches and Christian schools the relationship between Biblical and musical principles; published choral arrangements, written particularly for separated, Bible-believing churches; published brass music, providing sacred music for brass players; and recordings of the music and messages of Frank Garlock. It is hoped that the printed and recorded music of MEN OF PRAISE will give funda- mental churches more reason to keep their music true to the Word of God. Arranger and director: Frank Carlock Accompanist: Flora Jean Garlock Frank Garlock is the minister of music at the Southside Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, and an extension staff lecturer for Bob Jones University. He is well known for his application of the principles of the Word of God to the music of Christian people.
