Guarneri Quartet - Brahms/Schumann THE COMPLETE QUARTETS - Rca ARL3-3834 Box - 3 Record Set - VERY FINE! - Factory Sealed
Few quartets have enjoyed so everlasting a "reign" over quality of delivery---and remained intact, as a group---as the Guarneri Quartet. (Yes, named after the famous family of violinmakers.)
Facts:
The four are Arnold Steinhardt on violin, a concertmaster during Szell's tenure with the Cleveland Orchestra; John Dalley on violin, a former member of the Oberlin Quartet; Michael Tree on viola, a formidable concert violinist who indeed converted to viola; and David Soyer on cello, previously with several chamber ensembles, including the Bach Aria Group.
Here they play the Brahms and Schumann Quartets, complete, in this factory sealed celebration edition released by Rca in 1980.
Do note that the shrink wrap is popped on one corner.
A truly remarkable set of very fine playing, among the best.
