Grading, Handling, and Packing

I grade conservatively and play-grade whenever possible.

All records are shipped in new record shipping boxes with additional padding and the vinyl packed outside of the jacket. I replace all plain paper and/or worn inner sleeves with new poly sleeves (original sleeves are kept with the record), and always provide a new poly outer sleeve with each record. Records are shipped clean, and many are cleaned on a Nitty Gritty machine before grading.

Shipping: US Buyers

For US buyers, I ship USPS Media Mail at the flat rate of $4.00 for single LPs. Double LPs, boxes, and heavier pieces will be shipped at actual cost, billed to buyer with the final invoice. I add a small premium to shipping, which partially covers the cost of the new sleeves and packing materials I provide. Delivery confirmation (and insurance in some cases) is also covered by the flat fee. I will combine shipping at actual cost, again using Media Mail. You can always let me know if you'd like another shipping method and I will accommodate, at actual cost.

Shipping: Non US Buyers

For non-US buyers, shipping is at actual cost using USPS First Class International. I will add registered mail for tracking purposes to certain countries (including Italy, Russia, Turkey, Greece, and others). You may ask for any other form of shipment at your cost, but if you choose to skip the registered mail option you will assume the risks of shipping. International buyers: please do not pay until I send you the invoice with actual charges. The eBay shipping estimate will be wrong.

I usually do not pack a record until the end of each auction and will not know the shipping cost until after each auction. On request I will provide shipping estimates but these should not be considered final.

I normally do not take returns, but the buyer should be in touch with me if upon receipt s/he feels that something has been misrepresented. I'm a reasonable guy.

PLEASE READ

It has been brought to my attention that this copy of "Fire of Love" appears to be a variation within the first run of the title. This copy has a "standard" US-style jacket rather than the heavier jacket with tip-on cover, and the "flag" on the front and bar on the back of the jacket are yellow, rather than green.

However, first-pressing copies of "Fire of Love" with these characteristics apparently do exist. The labels are definitely Ruby (not Slash), the catalog numbers and labels correspond to the available information on the first pressing, and the runout markings on the vinyl on this copy are identical to another copy I have that has the tip-on cover. Also, the Slash Records mail-order insert is present, and this is identical to the other copy I have (Ruby was originally distributed by Slash, and FOL was subsequently re-released on Slash with completely different cover art). I am also 100% certain that the jacket is indeed 30+ years old. I want to emphasize that this is definitely NOT a later reissue or import version.

My theory is that Ruby initially pressed more vinyl than jackets and then did a second run of the jackets, but still within the first pressing of the record itself. I have also heard that there are variations in the cardboard stock used for the jacket, even within the range of the tip-on cover version.

My starting price still stands as fair considering the rarity of any version of this record, particularly in such strong condition (and in fact this version of the first pressing may be rare, but I cannot find any further information on that). However, I do not want to mislead anyone so please bid accordingly. Thank you!
