Guns n’ Roses - Appetite For Destruction Heavy Metal Vinyl LP ’87 Club Pressing
This is the Columbia House Club edition which, to my ears, sounds just as good as the regular pressing.
Record Grade: VG
Sleeve Grade: VG
The surfaces of the record are nice and clean apart from a light mark across the first two tracks that is the reason for the VG grade. There's a little bit of light surface noise in lead in groove and at the very start of "Welcome To The Jungle." At the end of the song there are 10 audible light ticks that start happening before "It's So Easy" begins and continue at the beginning of the song. A further 10 ticks can be heard toward the middle of the song. Apart from these issues, it's smooth sailing for the rest of the LP with only occasional light surface noise audible between tracks or during quieter passages.
The cover has lots of creasing and a 1.25" split on the spine that is worn to the cardboard. There is an additional half-inch split on top edge, also worn to cardboard. The top right corner has a large bonk and some considerable creasing in this area. The bottom right corner has a small bonk. I can also see the beginnings of light ring wear. The custom inner sleeve is worn from handling and has the usual seam splits. Please examine pictures carefully.
----------
I grade LPs based on a conservative interpretation of the Goldmine standard. This means that a VG+ record is in very nice shape and should have little to no surface noise barring an occasional moment here and there. A record with sustained surface noise will be at best a VG. All records are play-graded since not all surface noise can be detected visually. All records are shipped in new Whiplash mailers with cardboard backing with the sleeved record outside of the jacket to prevent seam splits.
Below is more thorough info on my grading system:
NM: Surfaces essentially look new. This is the highest rating I give used records.
VG+: Very nice shape. May have a few stray very light hairlines and/or light paper scuffs visible under bright light. Will have little to no surface noise barring an occasional moment here and there. No feelable marks.
VG: Has hairlines and/or paper scuffs and has audible surface noise particularly between songs and during quieter passages.
G+: Has more pronounced hairlines and paper scuffs and may have a few small feelable marks, but still no skips.
