A professional musician at the age of 18, composer-pianist-vibraphonist Hagood Hardy studied at the University of Toronto, playing various jazz clubs with the likes of jazz giants like Herbie Mann, Martin Denny and George Shearing......before setting off on his own with his band Montage.

The Stop 33 that this album refers to is a former nightclub on the top floor (33rd) of Toronto's Sutton Place skyscraper (opened in 1967 at Bay and Wellesley), where Hardy's late-'60's trio was the house band.  (The front cover captures a great night shot of this 1967 Toronto skyline).

Re-issued in the early 70`s on the GRT label (copies of which do occasionaly turn up, although rarely), this one is the genuinely scarce original Canadian issue (Montreal Compo) first pressing recorded by the Canadian Talent Library on RCA, and in the rare and amazingly vibrant stereo version (it was also released on the more common mono version CTL-1096).
