Description
Up for auction is a nice copy of the Hampton Hawes album "All Night Session Vol. 1" released on Contemporary Records (C 3545) in 1956. This is a guaranteed original mono, deep groove first pressing.
The cover is in very nice condition. Nice gloss lamination on front and back. Corners are generally sharp with only a small amount of rubbing. Front has a crease in lower right, and a hint of ring wear in lower left that's hard to see. Seams are strong, no splits, but they do have some areas of mild rubbing. Back cover is nice and bone white with only a hint of rubbing along top and bottom edges. Small amount of writing in blue ink along bottom right seam. Otherwise very attractive. I'd grade this cover to be in EX (Excellent) condition.
The vinyl is also in very nice shape. Retains its original high gloss shine, with no obvious scratches or scuffs. Does have a few very small hairlines and one small superficial mark--neither can be felt nor do they affect the quality of the play back. Labels are bright and clean, no obvious marks around spindle holes (photos show a shadow on labels from the camera). I have play tested this record, and it sounds generally nice and clean. No persistent surface noise or obvious distractions. Not near mint, but very close. Very nice play back. I'd grade this record as EX+/EX (Excellent).
