ARTIST: HAPPY MONDAYS ALBUM.
TITLE: BUMMED.
RELEASE DATE: 1988 FACT 250 (TOWNHOUSE CUTTINGSTUDIOS DISC)
FORMAT: x2 33 RPM DIRECT METAL MASTERING CUT DISC.
ONLY PAIR IN THE WORLD
INCREDIBLY RARE AND UNIQUE!!!!!!!!
These 2 discs are the actual Direct Metal Master (DMM).
Used to manufacture the stampers that make the vinyl record.
This is the "direct metal master" version of what is normally reffered to as an acetate.
Rather than using a metal disc coated with a softer acetate layer to cut the original grooves as in an ordinary cutting room, the "Townhouse" in London was equipped with the new "Direct Metal" process which used a polished metal plate that revolved under the cutting head to produce the record.
Clearly marked on the run-out grooves are the hand written (etched) "Townhouse" and the catalogue 1 release just as they apear on the actual vinyls.
The actual matrix numbersof the cuts are; FAXCT 220 A 1 and FACT 220 B 1.
As such these discs are UNIQUE, this is the actual cut that you would be listening to if you had the vinyl, these discs are quite heavy and will be dearer than a birthday card!! as thy are not attached to their very heavy turntable base they are usually prone to a slight buckle, this is normal if they have done that. Though these are in greatcondition and fingerprint free.
DIRECT METAL MASTER DISC of this kind are impossible to find and it goes without saying this is the ONLY CHANCE you will get to own this item.
